We have had runners as young as 13 that have competed on their parents team. You will be required to fill out a consent form, but otherwise, we encourage parents to participate with their kids.

This would be my first time doing something like this… Do you and your teammates stay together the whole time? Do you finish as a team?

All three members must participate as a team in all portitions of the race. Your teammates are required to be within 50 Feet of each other, unless specified in the directions, at all times. Adventure racing is not like any other racing even you have participated in. Sometimes one member of a team is stronger than another at different events. You will find this challenge rewarding as an individual as much as a team.

Can you tell me what order the events will be in? When will the “mystery challenges” be thrown into the race?

Good Question Trisha. The course is a secret until 30 minutes before the start. What we can tell you is the disciplines are broken into many sections. You may start with a short run, then bike a few miles, then canoe, then run, then bike, etc… We mix it up so you don’t have to do all of any one sport at one time. The mystery events are a team challenge that requires all 3 teammates to work together to complete the task. In the past we’ve had teammate carrys, puzzle solving, water tasks, and more. We mix a few of these during the race. Let us know if we can answer any other questions. Dave
